Our Approach

Kara Miller
MA, LCMHC-A, CCTS-I
I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor and a certified clinical trauma specialist. I enjoy learning and walking with people as they grow and heal. While my work has an artistic feel, improvisational, and tailored to your specific needs and desires, it is consistently informed by and grounded in evidence-based therapies.
I am currently available for individual sessions to clients in NC, ages 10+. I am also available for workshops, classes, and groups.

Amber Lowder
MA, LMFT-A
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) who works with individuals and those in relationships. I specialize in providing trauma-informed care, and my work is grounded in collaboration, safety, and respect for each person’s lived experience. I work with individuals in a wide range of relationships, including romantic, consensually non-monogamous, familial, and non-romantic relationships.

My approach is integrative and tailored, drawing from evidence-based practices to support emotional awareness, help people find their voice, strengthen relational connections, and move toward meaningful, sustainable, and empowering change.

As a trauma survivor and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am committed to providing affirming, inclusive care within a safe and therapeutic space. I also bring over ten years of experience in the healthcare field, which informs my thoughtful, ethical, and person-centered approach to care.
Groups

Using art as therapy provides an opportunity for non-verbal expression and processing of emotions. There is no experience needed and all materials are provided. It's about the process and not the product. Art as Therapy is offered as a group and as individual sessions.

WORLDWIDE

Brainpower for Kids is a psychoeducational group for elementary-age kids. Kids will have an opportunity to work on their mental health by using Art as Therapy, connecting with other kids, and increasing their knowledge and coping skills.

The Connections Group is a supportive, community-based mental health group designed to help people build meaningful social connections through shared interests and experiences. Rather than focusing on therapy-style discussion alone, Connections brings people together through interest-based events such as book groups, walking meetups, photography outings, and other shared activities. These experiences create natural opportunities for conversation, relationship-building, and helping members strengthen social support in ways that feel comfortable and authentic.
